Holiday Properties on the Baltic Coast
Every property professional knows the three criteria for a hotel’s value: location, location, and location! This somewhat emphatically worded assessment probably applies just as much to any other holiday property—that is, properties built and used for holiday purposes. The Baltic Sea, an outstanding holiday destination in Europe and beyond, is no exception. Holiday properties on the Baltic coast remain in demand on the property market, although simply being able to reach the coast after a long drive is no longer enough. The dream of many Baltic Sea holidaymakers, as well as an increasing number of people looking for a place to live, is a property on the Baltic coast with a sea view, plenty of space, parking, and the necessary amenities within walking distance. The ideal holiday property on the Baltic coast is a holiday home, apartment, or even an entire holiday complex in the immediate vicinity of the sea, no more than a five-minute walk from the beach, in a quiet setting, with all the necessary shops and restaurants a little farther away. But there is plenty of room for options that fall short of this ideal, too.
Holiday properties on the Baltic coast and inland
With its extensive hinterland reaching as far as the Mecklenburg Lake District, Holstein Switzerland, Sweden’s “Kingdom of Glass” in the south, the wild, remote coastline in the north, and Poland’s Masuria region, the Baltic coast remains a sought-after location for holiday properties of every kind, size, and purpose. The market offers both newly built holiday homes and apartments in large complexes, as well as individual properties in attractive locations near the Baltic Sea. Historic buildings also offer opportunities for restoration or purchase and conversion into holiday properties. In Germany, villas in the resort architecture style are particularly popular. While the coastal areas of the Baltic Sea in Germany and Denmark are already very well served by holiday properties, there are still many opportunities—especially in southern Sweden, as far north as around Stockholm—to find an affordable yet comfortable holiday property on the coast or in the nearby hinterland.
The property market along the Baltic coast has no shortage of demand in any sector. Another distinctive feature of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is the large number of castles and manor houses still awaiting restoration and subsequent use, including as holiday properties.
