Water Sports on Usedom in Lütow

The island of Usedom offers impressive natural scenery beyond the Baltic coast, too, along the so-called Achterwasser lagoon between the island and the mainland. One example is the Gnitz Peninsula, with the 32-metre-high cliffs of Weißer Berg. They provide an unusually picturesque backdrop for water sports on Usedom. In 2006, owner Andreas Latteck set up his windsurfing and sailing school right at the Natur Camping Lütow campsite.

The range of water sports leaves little to be desired. You can learn not only windsurfing, kitesurfing and sailing here; various boats are also available to rent. The shallow water is ideal for lessons, and is especially popular with children and young people. Children as young as eight can learn to sail in an “Optimist,” while the sailing catamaran offers a little extra confidence to beginners. You can take the practical test for the recreational boating licence for coastal waters after a week-long trip on the waters around Usedom and Rügen aboard one of our own charter yachts, Jaguar 27s.
For canoe trips on the Achterwasser—the “back side” of Usedom—there are plenty of boats available for both independent and guided tours, and the landscape and waters are ideal for exploring by canoe.


The special appeal of the Usedom Water Sports Centre on the Gnitz Peninsula has become especially well known among youth travel groups. That’s because it offers the perfect action-packed programme, complete with beach barbecues and stays in tents (almost) right by the water.
Our own boat trailer also makes it possible to start canoe or windsurfing trips from other locations, such as Lubmin on the Greifswald Bodden, Peenemünde, Ückeritz/Stagnieß or Ahlbeck.
A special offer is our windsurfing holiday flat rate. Anyone who earns a basic windsurfing certificate at the Water Sports Centre can continue practising as much as they like for the rest of their holiday—in other words, use equipment from Wassersport Usedom free of charge, subject to availability.
The Water Sports Centre also offers a varied programme for corporate events.
