Wolgast is situated on the Peene River, opposite the island of Usedom. From there, the Baltic Sea can be reached by road and rail via the movable bascule bridge “Blue Wonder.”
Culture around the Runge House
The Runge House is located on Kronwiekstraße, near Wolgast Harbour. It is the birthplace of the artist Philipp Otto Runge. An interactive exhibition is dedicated to his life and work.
Every August, during Wolgast’s annual Night of Culture, the Runge House opens its doors and courtyard; the programme includes music and theatre. The house’s living-room gallery also presents temporary exhibitions by selected artists.
