From the lake, you can enjoy an impressive view of the Kubitzer Bodden and across the salt marshes. The views of the water and open salt marshes add to the wildlife-watching experience along the way.
Fishing is another option: fishing is possible in the Kubitzer Bodden, which borders Rambin. Church, Museum and Exhibitions
St. John’s Church in Rambin was first mentioned in documents in 1300 and is one of the oldest churches on the island of Rügen. Its furnishings include a baptismal font from the 13th century, the church’s oldest item. There is also a late-medieval rood cross and a late-medieval carved figure of Mary with the Child. Those interested in church art and historic furnishings will find several distinctive works here from different periods.
At the Rambin Local History Museum, an almost complete collection of agricultural tools and machinery illustrates German agriculture in the first half of the 19th century. The collection was assembled at the former farm of farmer Friedrich Herud from Götemitz. Please note when planning a visit: the local history museum has no regular opening hours and opens for events organised by the association. Tours or visits can be arranged individually with the museum management or the board.
Another cultural stop is the chapel of St. Jürgen Rambin Monastery, which now houses a gallery with changing exhibitions. The two-storey brick building at St. Jürgen Rambin Monastery is considered to be Classicism in its purest form. The Chapel of the Holy Cross in Bessin is a Gothic, octagonal brick building. These different architectural styles offer varied perspectives on the region’s architectural and cultural history.
Local Activities and Getting There
From April to September, the “Rambin Conversations at the Bread Oven” take place at 5 p.m. on the last Friday of each month. Fresh bread is baked, and there are also talks and group discussions. The Rügen Farmers’ Market Alte Pommernkate in Rambin offers breakfast, regional lunch dishes, homemade cakes, a barbecue grill and a fish stall. Alongside nature and culture, there are also local opportunities to enjoy regional food and take part in community events.
From Stralsund, you can reach Rambin via the B96n exit “Altefähr/Rambin” and then take the old federal road through Rambin.
