Pantelitz is located approximately seven kilometers west of Stralsund in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The town therefore combines a clearly definable location west of the Hanseatic city with an area where natural, cultural, and excursion destinations are spread out.
Geographical Setting
Lake Pütter See is located within the municipality of Pantelitz. Mühlenberg and Hengstenberg are situated in the surrounding area. The wider area includes Dänholm, Bülten, Stralsund Zoo, Mönchstein, and Flemendorf, Marienkirche. The Stralsund Zoo in Grimmen is located in the broader regional area around Pantelitz.
Culture and History
Pantelitz was first documented on January 13, 1287. Southwest of the town are the remains of a former fortification known as Schloßberg. The Pantelitz manor house was given a neoclassical form in the mid-19th century.
Transport
Federal Highway 105 and the Stralsund–Rostock railway line run through Pantelitz. The Pantelitz stop is no longer served; bus route 308 between Stralsund and Barth stops there.
Other places in the Niepars administrative district include Niepars, Kummerow, Zarrendorf, Wendorf, Groß Kordshagen, Steinhagen, Jakobsdorf and Lüssow.
