Zarrendorf is located eight kilometres south of Stralsund in Western Pomerania-Rügen. The B 96 runs north of the municipality.

Transport

The Berlin–Stralsund railway crosses Zarrendorf and runs through the municipality; Zarrendorf has a stop on the line.

Surroundings

The surrounding area of Zarrendorf includes Stralsund Zoo, Mönchstein, Grimmen Zoo and Dänholm. The village church “Steinhagen, Village Church” is also located in the surrounding area of Zarrendorf.

History

After the Peace of Westphalia in 1648, Zarrendorf and the rest of Western Pomerania came under Swedish rule. In 1815, the area became part of the Prussian Province of Pomerania.
