Nature and Landscape

Szeska Góra is located near Stacze, while Tatarska Góra lies in the surrounding area. Lipowa Góra and Audyniskie Góra are located in the wider regional surroundings. The municipality of Kowale Oleckie is characterised by the Szeskie Hills and Szeska Góra, which rises to 309 metres. The Borecka Forest covers 36 percent of the municipality and contains lakes as well as three nature reserves.

History

Stacze was founded as a settlement in 1564; Duke Albrecht granted it under feudal law. The later settlement area also gave rise to the former villages of Rdzawe and Golubie Wężewskie.

Culture

In the vicinity of Stacze, Szarejki has a Protestant church dating from 1719. Wieliczki is home to a wooden church with a four-sided tower, completed in 1693; it contains a late Baroque altar and a Rococo organ dating from 1791.
