Prerow

In the village surrounded by the Darß Forest, bathing tourism began to develop at the end of the 19th century—a tradition that today shapes life in the Baltic seaside resort of Prerow. It is one of the best-known Baltic seaside resorts, with one of the longest nude beaches and a nudist campground that accommodated up to 10,000 guests at a time in the 1980s. The continuous stretch of beach, one of the most beautiful on the Baltic Sea, begins west of Prerow and runs all the way to the eastern end of the Zingst Peninsula.
A waterway rest stop on the Prerowstrom, with 50 moorings, is also a starting point for boat trips through the Bodden lagoon landscape.
The best-known excursion destination in the Baltic seaside resort of Prerow is the , at the northern tip of the Darß, which cannot be reached by motor vehicle. New land continues to form here through sediment deposits. The area lies within the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park and is also a nature reserve. All traces of military use up to 1991 have been removed. The harbor built in this connection east of Darßer Ort will soon be replaced by one at the end of the Prerow pier. The outbuildings of the 35-meter-high lighthouse, which visitors can also climb, house the Darßer Ort Natureum, an outpost of the German Oceanographic Museum in Stralsund.
