Wieck

The former fishing village of Wieck stretches for more than two kilometres along the flat shore of the Bodstedter Bodden, south of the Darß Forest and surrounded by meadows and pastures. The village’s maritime history of fishing and seafaring still shapes the appearance of its old cottages and houses, most of which have thatched half-hipped roofs. The first stop for visitors is the “Darßer Arche” National Park Centre. The former school has been extended with a modern annex and brings together several attractions under one roof: a visitor information centre, accommodation booking service, an exhibition about the “Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft” National Park, and a gallery featuring works in photography, painting, sculpture and ceramics, among other fields.
Wieck is an ideal starting point for cycling or hiking excursions through the Darß Forest to the West Beach or North Beach. In Wieck itself, with its small, newly built harbour, there are opportunities for sailing, surfing and swimming. The open-air stage in Wieck hosts the Darß Festival every year.
