Considered an educational experience centre, this fortified farmstead with palisades and a tower is located near Østerlars. The whole family can enjoy a wide range of hands-on activities across its 15-hectare site. The major medieval market at the end of July is the annual highlight.

Joboland
Bornholm’s largest amusement and animal park, Joboland, is located in Svaneke. Its 6,000-square-metre heated bathing area, with giant water slides and a toddler pool, offers fun whatever the weather. Other attractions include a small animal park and a spacious adventure park with a go-kart track, climbing area, mini golf, boat hire and much more.

Butterfly Park & Tropical Land
A tropical climate greets visitors to Bornholm’s Butterfly Park on the western edge of Nexø. The 900-square-metre glass-enclosed tropical house—with fragrant tropical plants, birds, ponds and a waterfall—as well as numerous brightly coloured butterflies, makes visitors forget the cool Nordic surroundings.

Melstedgård Agricultural Museum
The Melsted farmstead, south of
Gudhjem, was the first farm in Denmark to be designated a protected historic site as a “living farm” in 1950. Its faithfully preserved furnishings, reflecting the estate’s more than 200-year history, offer an authentic glimpse into Bornholm’s agricultural past.

Bornholm Museum Rønne
With its comprehensive overview of the many facets of Bornholm’s history, it is one of Denmark’s finest local history museums and an ideal starting point for exploring the island. The museum’s main attraction is a collection of more than 2,000 small gold-foil figures (Goldgubber), dating from the Migration Period and discovered in a field in the mid-1980s.

Rønne Defence Museum
Located in parts of the former defensive works of a planned but never completed fortress in Rønne, the Forsvarsmuseet displays a wealth of local historical documents and exhibits on Bornholm’s military past. The imposing round citadel has walls almost four metres thick.

Bornholm Ceramic Museum, Rønne
This vibrant museum is housed in a former ceramics factory. Visitors can follow the various stages of production, much as they were carried out when the factory first opened. The museum showcases the island’s rich ceramic-making tradition: in the past, Bornholm was home to more than 200 pottery workshops and 25 ceramic factories.

Grønbechs Gård Hasle
A former merchant’s farmstead in the centre of Hasle has been transformed into an exhibition and cultural centre. Visitors can explore Bornholm’s art and crafts across 1,500 square metres and gain insight into the lives of fishermen in earlier times. Children can also try their hand at creative activities.

Automobile Museum Aakirkeby
The small private collection belonging to the owner of a car repair shop in Aakirkeby has grown into a noteworthy display of well-maintained vintage cars and motorcycles. Visitors can also see bicycles and a range of household appliances, including radios, televisions, typewriters and film projectors. The exhibition is rounded off by a faithfully recreated 1920s car repair shop.

Oluf Høst Museum, Gudhjem
In Gudhjem, visitors can experience the work of Bornholm painter Oluf Høst in the very surroundings where he created his paintings. His home, the Bognemark farmhouse overlooking the rooftops of Gudhjem and the Baltic Sea, offers a glimpse into the painter’s life, as well as the chance to view many of the scenes that inspired him between 1920 and 1960.
