Wellness Services
Looking for the right wellness provider for your holiday? Wellness specialists—from star-rated hotels and spa treatment centres to beauty farms and leisure pools with traditional saunas and massage—present their range of treatments.
Some of them are certified by the German Wellness Association. Founded in 1990, the German Wellness Association (Deutscher Wellness Verband e.V.) sees itself as a national health institution and is regarded as the leading organisation of the wellness movement in Germany. In close consultation with, and at the urging of, many wellness providers themselves—particularly in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern—the association developed criteria for assessing and evaluating wellness providers. This led to an independent quality certification. All certificates are awarded for a period of two years.
The German Wellness Association would like to offer users of wellness services a guide, in the form of a few questions, to help them assess providers’ standards for themselves:
Is the hotel primarily geared towards wellness guests?
Does the hotel offer healthy, varied vitality cuisine at every meal?
Does the kitchen cater to specific dietary requirements for health reasons (e.g. diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease)?
How extensive is the hotel’s wellness area? Are there attractive pools, a fitness room, a beauty department and treatment areas (for massages and wellness treatments) inside and outside the hotel? Are there spacious lounges?
How informative is the information about the wellness services you receive before your stay?
How good is the value for money of individual wellness services? Are the wellness services you book explained to you in detail?
Are you looked after in the wellness area by qualified staff with relevant, completed vocational training?
Are there enough designated non-smoking rooms and non-smoking areas in the hotel and restaurant?
