Wellness Hotels & Providers in Usedom
Local healing remedies
The local healing remedy currently in use is Heringsdorf iodine brine, extracted from a depth of more than 400 metres. Another thermal spring has been discovered on the island of Usedom in the north, between Karlshagen and Peenemünde, and is to be developed in the coming years. The best-known destinations among the island’s ten seaside resorts, and also centres for a wide range of wellness services, are the three “Imperial Spas” Heringsdorf, Bansin and Ahlbeck , as well as the more than 700-year-old seaside resort of Zinnowitz.

Although the Baltic Sea island of Usedom is only Germany’s second-largest island, many visitors call it the most beautiful. About half the size of Germany’s largest island, Rügen, it encompasses a fantastic variety of natural landscapes. These include a continuous 40-kilometre-long sandy beach, up to 80 metres wide, bordered by wooded dunes or cliffs still being shaped by erosion; inland lakes fringed by forest; picturesque rolling hills; and a richly indented inland coastline facing the Szczecin Lagoon. Nature alone promotes good health and is the reason why a growing number of Baltic Sea holidaymakers choose to spend their vacation right here on Usedom. In recent years, Usedom has developed into a wellness destination of international standing. Thanks to a microclimate exceptionally well suited to this purpose and other favourable climatic conditions, including what is known as surf aerosol, the island is a nationwide pioneer in quality management for wellness services. It is therefore no coincidence that the Baltic Sea island of Usedom has the highest concentration of wellness providers certified by the German Wellness Association. This gives visitors a guarantee that they will receive the promised level of quality.
Since 1945, the easternmost part of the Baltic Sea island of Usedom, including Usedom’s oldest seaside resort, Świnoujście, has belonged to Poland. The wellness services offered by hotels in Świnoujście are also becoming increasingly important.
