Water Sports in Mecklenburg
Mecklenburg’s water sports area can be pinpointed in one word: it is the Bay of Mecklenburg, which covers the entire Baltic Sea area south of the line from the Fehmarn Sound to the seaside resort of Wustrow on the Fischland peninsula. The Mecklenburg coast begins where Lübeck Bay opens into the southwesternmost corner of the Baltic Sea. It has only a few inlets, including Wismar Bay and the Salzhaff lagoon near Rerik. The changing landscape of shallow waters and open sea makes this area very appealing for all kinds of water sports.
