In Ivenack, ancient oaks and the wildlife park shape the experience of nature. The Ivenack Wildlife Park is Germany’s first National Natural Monument. It includes a wood pasture and five thousand-year-old oaks. The Methuselah Oak, almost a thousand years old, has a special story: on 2 July 2025, it was added as the 50th tree to Germany’s National Heritage Trees list. Experience nature: oaks, animals and treetops
At the Ivenack Oaks, visitors can observe fallow deer, wild horses and wild boar at close range. Visitor attractions also include a nature trail and an exhibition in the Baroque pavilion. Those who would like to learn more about the oaks and the forest can arrange a guided tour with forest educators.
The 40-metre-high viewing platform offers another perspective. It is accessible by elevator and provides a panoramic view over the treetops of the ancient oaks and Lake Ivenack. The treetop walk is 620 metres long. Both figures can help you choose between a view from above and a path through the treetops; the Ivenack Oaks site is accessible, and suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
Lake Ivenack is about 1,180 metres long and 550 metres wide; its water surface covers around 97 hectares. A roughly 5.5-kilometre natural-surface circular trail runs around the lake. It passes through the palace park, woods and fields, as well as the Ivenack Oaks and wildlife park area. This makes it possible to combine a walk with a variety of landscape views. There is also a forest shop and a forest café by the thousand-year-old oaks.
Palace park and Baroque ensemble
Ivenack has an almost completely preserved Baroque palace complex. It includes the palace, stables, orangery, tea house, church and park. Around 1800, the palace park was redesigned as an English landscape garden; its grounds also extend to the thousand-year-old oaks. A stroll through the park takes in all parts of the palace ensemble. The former monastery church dates back to the 13th century.

The circular trail around the lake offers another way to experience nature and parkland on foot.
