In the immediate vicinity of Verchen is Verchen's St. Mary's Monastery Church, an Early Gothic hall church dating from the 13th century that is associated with a former Benedictine convent. The church preserves religious and artistic heritage from the former monastery. Three stained-glass windows, the surviving central section of an altar made around 1420, and an altar reredos dating from around 1500 have been preserved. The heritage also includes stained-glass windows in the choir as well as remains of 15th- and 16th-century altars.
