Church history in Domsühl

The single-nave hall church in Domsühl was remodelled around 1840 using medieval remains of its predecessor church and extended to approximately twice its length. A straight chancel is another feature of the renovation. Baroque paintings depicting the “Salvator mundi” and eight apostles can be seen in the organ gallery. The wooden bell tower was renovated in 1995/96.

An approximately ten-kilometre circular hiking trail, also known as a forest trail, leads to the Pingelhof Museum in Alt Damerow. The route starts at the Garwitz waterway rest area and passes along the Müritz-Elde Waterway, through Malchow and by the Pingelhof before returning to Garwitz. This makes it a route in its own right; its start and end points are in Garwitz. At the Pingelhof, staged guided tours explore history, people and life in the past and present.
