Witzin is situated in a wooded, hilly landscape east of Sternberg. The municipality belongs to the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in northeastern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and to the West Mecklenburg travel region.

Culture and History

The Groß Raden Open-Air Museum is located near Witzin. Bützow Castle is also situated in the surrounding area; farther afield in the region lies Güstrow Castle. Witzin was first mentioned in a document in 1270 as a church village associated with the Archdeaconry of Bützow.
