Moraas is a municipality in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. The Sude, the Klüßer Mühlenbach and the Strohkirchener Bach, as well as other small watercourses, flow through the town or along its borders.

Classification

Moraas is located about seven kilometres east of Hagenow. The nearest railway station is in Strohkirchen.

History and Landscape

Moraas was first mentioned in a document in 1227 and historically had the settlement form of a circular village. Historically, Moraas was shaped by agriculture.

Culture and Nature

In the wider regional area around Moraas are the Schwerin-Zippendorf television tower, “Schwerin, State Museum”, the Staatliches Museum Schwerin, Schwerin Zoo, Pingelhof and the Wendish rampart. The surrounding area of Moraas also includes the Zachun water-ski lift and Buchberg.
