Rubkow is located 11 kilometres north of Anklam and 31 kilometres southeast of Greifswald. The surrounding area is characterised by open, gently rolling terrain, larger wooded areas and numerous bodies of water.

Landscape

Larger contiguous wooded areas lie north and east of Rubkow. The open areas around Rubkow are gently rolling; only a few elevations are higher than 35 metres above sea level. The highest point reaches 38 metres northwest of Wahlendow.

The municipality of Rubkow includes Buggower See in the Seetannens forest, as well as numerous kettle holes and small ponds. Notable flowing waters include the Großer Scheidegraben and the Mühlgraben. The area surrounding Rubkow also includes Neidbullen and the Schlossinsel.

Culture

The area surrounding Rubkow is home to Quilow Moated Castle, the Trabbi-Scheune, the Maria Magdalena Church in Schlatkow and the Quilow village church. Rubkow also has a village church known as Rubkow Village Church.
