Geographical location

Patzig is a municipality on the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and belongs to the district of Vorpommern-Rügen. The municipality lies on the western edge of the terminal moraine ridge that runs through the middle of Rügen. Patzig is located around six kilometers northwest of Bergen auf Rügen. The B 96 runs east of Patzig.

History

Patzig once had a railway station on the route of the Rügensche Kleinbahn between Bergen Ost, Wiek, and Altenkirchen. Historically, there are connections to the former Principality of Rügen, the Duchy of Pomerania, Swedish Pomerania, and New Western Pomerania.
