Museum and Architectural History
The Museum of the Pisz Region was founded in Pisz in 1969 and is currently located in the town hall. Its exhibits range from the fauna and flora of the Puszcza Piska to Polish written records from Masuria and documents on the history of Pisz. This brings together nature, written records and the history of the town in one collection. The Church of St John the Baptist also preserves distinctive historic details: its main altar dates from the late Renaissance, and its Baroque pulpit bears the year 1701. The church tower is considered the oldest historic building in Pisz. The ruins of the Teutonic castle tell of a different historical function: they are the remains of a medieval fortress that once guarded the then border between Prussia and Masovia. The church and castle ruins thus represent different aspects of the town’s architectural heritage.

The blue-marked route runs from Pisz via Szast, Wądołek, Piskorzewo and Pogobie Średnie back to town, and is approximately 33.4 kilometres long. Both routes start and end in the same place, but differ in their listed intermediate stops and approximate length.
