Youth Holidays in Holstein
Holstein, the southern part of Schleswig-Holstein, is one of Germany’s most traditional and popular holiday regions. The area between Kiel, the island of Fehmarn and Lübeck also encompasses a coastal hinterland with an exceptionally wide range of options for a Baltic Sea holiday. Kiel Fjord is one of the Baltic’s best-known sailing areas. From there, a string of renowned seaside resorts stretches from Schönberg through Hohwacht Bay and Weissenhäuser Strand, Heiligenhafen and the island of Fehmarn, all the way to Lübeck Bay, with Grömitz, Scharbeutz and Timmendorfer Strand.

The state capital, Kiel, and the old Hanseatic city of Lübeck offer an exceptional number of destinations for day trips on a city break with children’s and youth groups on the Baltic Sea, at any time of year. Lübeck, the city of marzipan and Hanseatic Brick Gothic, offers a rewarding and enriching holiday experience, especially for groups of children and young people.
The island of Fehmarn is the very essence of a Baltic Sea holiday and offers a wide range of accommodation for children’s and youth groups, too. At the same time, Fehmarn, with its ferry port of Puttgarden, is a starting point for ferry trips to Denmark. The ferry takes just one hour to reach the Danish island of Lolland. Even travelling to Fehmarn across the Fehmarnsund Bridge is an experience in itself. For many reasons, Holstein is an ideal destination for children’s and youth holidays on the Baltic Sea. In addition to its seaside resorts and coastal attractions, the Holstein Baltic coast and its hinterland, Holstein Switzerland, offer a particularly varied range of activities for children and young people on holiday—from maritime cultural history in the towns to adventures in nature by bicycle, boat, horseback or on foot. Farm holidays are also popular in Holstein, offering an ideal combination of relaxation and learning.
